History

The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce was founded in the year 1979 by local citizens B. E. (Gene) Lee, W. H. Ryder and Patsy Indermon. Since that time, the chamber has endeavored to support the business community of Buffalo and the individual citizens who make up that community. They truly are the backbone of our town. We hold several events throughout the year, Spring Fest in May and the Buffalo Stampede in September being our major events. Buffalo is also host to The Buffalo Gun Show (2) and several Horseshoe Tournaments per year at one of the best facilities in the state.

Any of you rockhounds know that of the jewels found in the earth, some are in plain sight laying on top of the surface, others are sticking out of the dirt so that you can still see them, and others are hidden deep in the heart of the earth. Sometimes you have to dig! Just like that, many of our businesses are located within eyesight of I-45 that runs north and south through our community, but that’s only a portion of the delights that await those who like to pull off the beaten path and dig a little! We have so many diverse businesses that reside along the two other major highways (SH 79 and SH 75) that intercept right through the heart of old town Buffalo. So if you are traveling any one of these three roads one day and have a little extra time, stop and have a look-see.

Our town boasts of some fantastic places where you can buy that special someone a gift or some flowers, you can treat your taste buds with some delicious food, you can browse through the bookshelves, you can visit the antique store, you can get your hair cut or styled, you can price that hardware or plumbing supplies or lumber you need, you can get a feel of that new gun you’ve been wanting to purchase, you can get those car parts that will ‘keep it going’ or talk to one of our body & paint shops about making it look good while it’s going!

You can drive by the Old Lyons Hotel, built in 1911 as a stopover for the train passengers. And if you decide to stay over, we have some wonderful hotels and motels that will be delighted to put you up for the night, and some friendly real estates agents that will help you find that perfect piece of property if you want to stay a little longer! We look forward to meeting you!
