The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce continues to honor participating businesses by recognizing Allen Real Estate as the July 2014 Member of the Month. Owner/ broker, Kathy Allen has been selling real estate in Buffalo and the Tri-County area since 1984. She attended the University of Houston and got her agents license in 1982 , then started selling residential estate in the South Houston area before moving to Buffalo in 1984. . After she and her family moved to Buffalo , she worked with a local Buffalo real state office before getting her Brokers license and opening her own business.

"It was so different selling land and ranches in a rural area instead of houses in subdivisions as I did in Houston. I went from wearing dresses and high heels to wearing jeans and boots for tromping around in the tundra. In Houston, I had a Key Map to help me find houses (that was way before GPS), up here there weren't even County Road signs back then. You had to KNOW where you were going or you could end up in Crockett. No cell phones back then, no faxes ( only snail mail) , no computers. We did have electricity" said Kathy laughing.

"It's such a blessing to work at a job you love. In the real estate business, you get to meet so many people from all walks of life and you get to have an important impact on their lives by helping them find the right property for their needs." Allen explained, adding, "God has truly blessed us and our business from day one. To be in a business for 32 years and still love the challenges that each day brings is fantastic."

Kathy said that the real estate business in the Leon County area continues to boom. "Thank God for my competition or I wouldn't have any down time."

Kathy's favourite down time from the real estate business is fishing & travelling with her husband Robert. They have been married 52 years and have two children and five grandchildren.

Allen Real Estate is located on Hwy 79 next to Texas/Burger/Subway and has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce since 1985. Kathy Allen has served as a past Chamber treasurer.
